Water Lowers Blood Sugar Without Medicine? The Truth! SugarMD

People with blood sugar levels above 240 mg/dL should check their urine for ketones before engaging in physical activity. If ketones are present, do not exercise. Ketones are the result of stored fat being broken down for energy. Your liver starts breaking down fat when theres not enough insulin in your bloodstream to absorb blood sugar into cells. When too many ketones are quickly produced, they can cause DKA. In this state, ketones may actually make your blood sugar level go even higher and you may need intravenous fluids to rebalance.

    Hydration And Type 2 Diabetes

As the weather gets warmer, we tend to sweat more, losing extra water from our bodies. Through this loss of water, the concentration of glucose in the bloodstream increases, simply because with less water, there is now proportionally more glucose in the blood compared to the remaining volume.

Drinking water helps pump up your blood volume, and therefore lowers the concentration of glucose in the bloodstream, helping lower blood glucose values. Regularly drinking water helps lower your blood sugar levels and keep them within a more normal range. If you are exercising more or simply in a warmer climate, you may not notice that you are sweating more-so take some extra sips of water this summer.

Additionally, your body is constantly working, using your kidneys to filter your blood in removing toxins and trying to lower your blood glucose. When blood sugars are high, the kidneys work harder and filter your blood more frequently, pulling water out of your body as they filter your blood. In order to help replenish this liquid, it is essential to drink more water to keep fluid balance normal in your body.

Can Drinking A Lot Of Water Lower Your Blood Sugar

    Are Lemons Good For Diabetes

Lemons are one of the best fruits out there. They provide a solution to almost everything revolving around health ailments. They provide the same remedial effects on the blood sugar levels of the body as well.

Lemons have been regarded as one of the superfoods for diabetic patients. It is very helpful to keep the sugar levels under normal levels and prevent extreme imbalance.

Lemons fall under the citrus fruit categories. Like oranges, lemons are also very nutritious. When talking about diabetes, lemons are even better than oranges. This is because lemons have lesser sugar in them.

Excess carbs or direct sugars in a particular food item can contribute to raising blood sugar levels. This is the main reason leading to spikes in blood glucose levels beyond normal margins.

Fortunately, lemons do not have such effects on diabetic blood sugar levels. In addition to this, lemons may even reduce blood sugar levels, which is a major necessity for diabetic patients.

Citrus fruits, including lemons, have a lot of fiber. Soluble fiber present in food assists in slower digestion. This is beneficial as slower digestion leads to a slow release of sugars in the bloodstream, ultimately leading to a controlled and low rise of sugar.

In this way, diabetic patients can avoid suffering from sudden rises and spiking blood sugar levels.

When your blood sugar is higher than it should be, that defense system starts to break down. One effect is increased inflammation throughout your body and especially in your blood vessels, which can lead to cardiovascular disease.

A weakened immune system also means you have an increased risk of contracting common infections like colds, flu, skin infections or pneumonia, and more serious ones like bone, joint, or heart infections. In fact, a study published in the journal Diabetes Care, found that people with diabetes are twice as likely to be hospitalized or die from a serious infection compared to those without diabetes.

Thats an important reason to manage your blood sugar. The closer to normal it stays throughout the day, the easier it is for your immune system to do its job. Heres what to aim for:

    • If you have prediabetes, try to keep your fasting sugar below 100 mg/dL, and your A1c below 5.7%. Those numbers are considered normal no diabetes.
    • If you have diabetes, the American Diabetes Association recommends working to keep your fasting or premeal blood sugar under 130 mg/dL, and your A1c under 7.0%.

Luckily, there are a few natural ways to improve your blood sugar and support your immune system at the same time. And hey, anything that kills two birds with one stone is good in my book!
