Does Sweet Smelling Urine Always Mean Diabetes

What Is The Smell Of Pee Of A Diabetic Person

What Can Urine Smell Tell You About Your Body? Dr.Berg

For the person who is suffering from diabetes, his pee usually smells sweet or like fruit. The reason behind the sweet smell of pee is the excessive amount of glucose in the body. The body always tries to get rid of excess glucose by the urination process. This can also be the symptom of diabetes if a person notices a sweet smell while peeing.

Why Does My Sweat Smell Like Urine

Ammonia is what gives your urine that distinctive smell.

High levels of ammonia in your sweat can give it a faint urine smell, which is obviously unpleasant.

But sweat which smells like urine could also be a symptom of something more serious.

Liver and kidney disease can both cause you to have a strange and unpleasant body odour.

If your liver or kidneys arent functioning properly, the toxins that they normally filter out of your body can instead build up.

This can cause your sweat to smell like ammonia or urine.

    Your Vision Is Blurry

Blurry vision is acommon symptom of diabetes, according to the Mayo Clinic. It involves a loss of the ability to see fine details and can occur in one or both eyes.

As Diabetes UK explained, this blurred vision is caused by theswelling of the lens inside the eye due to high levels of blood sugar. If your blood sugar levels fluctuate over time, your vision may improve or worsen depending on your condition.

    Sweet Smelling Urine= Diabetes

    Sweet

I am hoping someone with knowledge about diabetes or other metabolic dysfunctions can shed some insight on this: I have occasionally noticed my urine smelling very sweet, only in maybe the past month. I didn’t think anything of it. Last night I over ate on chocolate, today my urine smells super sweet. So, I decide maybe I should google this and see if there’s something I need to know about. Lo and behold, this appears to be a sign of diabetes. Background info: Have been eating paleo/primal for one year. I eat fatty meat, lean meat and every thing in between, dairy, eggs and potatoes or sweet potatoes almost every day. I’ll eat a little dark chocolate and honey occasionally. 5’3 106 lbs. Before paleo I got tired/crabby/murderous if I didn’t eat every three hours. I ate tons of carbs and sugar. Low blood pressure and easily got lightheaded when standing up. Is it possible to exhibit symptoms of diabetes, like glucose showing up in urine, without actually having diabetes? When you eat very little sugar, does it consequently increase your sensitivity to sugar which can also manifest as diabetes symptoms? I know I need to go to the doctor if this continues, but financially it’s impossible right now. In the meantime any insight is much appreciated. I know almost nothing about diabetes, I never thought it was something I needed to worry about. Thanks.Continue reading > >

What Exactly Is Urine Made Of

Urine is a clear, yellow liquid produced by the body to handle the wastes from normal body metabolism. When nitrogenous by-products build up in the blood from cellular metabolism, it must be cleared from the bloodstream.

In our bodies, some of our toxic waste from metabolism is excreted through perspiration as urea. The rest is handled by an intricate filter system that makes up the human urinary system.

The kidneys work through processes of filtering waste, reabsorption, and tubular secretion. They make urine through this complex filtration process, after which then the urine goes through the ureters, which are tubes to the bladder. Once urine reaches the bladder, it is then dispelled out of the body through a tube called the urethra, during a process called urination.

    What is urine made of?

Being the liquid by-product of metabolism, urine is made from the toxins released from regular daily work of the cells. Nitrogen is one by-product, along with many other water-soluble toxins and chemicals. There are three main nitrogenous toxins that are produced by cellular metabolism.

    They are:

    • Uric acid
    • creatinine

What is contained in your urine varies greatly related to your diet, and what kind of toxins you are introduced to. Health can play a factor. For example, large amounts of protein in the urine is indicative of illness. People who are healthy have very little protein found in their urine.2

What Does It Mean When Your Poop Smells Sweet

Similarly one may ask, is sweet smelling poop a sign of diabetes?

A person with uncontrolled diabetes may have blood glucose levels that are dangerously high. The body tries to get rid of the extra glucose in the urine, and this can cause a sweet smell. People with sweetsmelling urine due to diabetes may notice other symptoms, including: exhaustion.

Subsequently, question is, what is sickly sweet smell? Dead bodies give off a distinctive, sicklysweet odour that’s immediately recognisable and hard to forget. The smell of death can consist of more than 400 volatile organic compounds in a complex mixture. The exact composition of the gas mixture changes as decomposition progresses.

Hereof, what does healthy stool smell like?

Feces normally have an unpleasant smell. Foul-smelling stools have an unusually strong, putrid smell. In many cases, foul-smelling stools occur due to the foods people eat and the bacteria present in their colon. However, foul-smelling stools can also indicate a serious health problem.

Why does my poop smell sickly sweet?

Sweet smelling is not often a description associated with human stool, although there is a bacterial infection that can result in a recognizable sickeningly sweet excrement: Clostridioides difficile infection.

Signs That Blood Sugar Levels Are High

People with high blood sugar may:

    • pee a lot. When blood sugar levels get too high, the kidneys flush out the extra glucose into your urine , which is why people who have high blood sugar levels need to pee more often and in larger amounts.
    • drink a lot. Because you’re losing so much fluid from peeing so much, you can get very thirsty.
    • lose weight. If there isn’t enough insulin to help the body use glucose, the body starts to break down your muscle and fat for energy and you lose weight.
    • feel tired. Because the body can’t use glucose for energy properly, you may feel really tired.

High blood sugar levels don’t always cause these symptoms. Sometimes you can have high blood sugar levels without even knowing it. But if left untreated, they can cause serious health problems. That’s why it’s important to work with your parents and diabetes team to keep your blood sugar levels in a healthy range. This can mean checking your blood sugar levels a few times a day, even when you feel fine.

Blurred Vision Could Be A Result Of Rapid Blood Sugar Changes

Blurred vision can occur when there are rapid changes in blood sugar from low to high or high to low and the eye muscles have not yet adapted to it, Dr. Einhorn says.

The lens of the eye is a flexible membrane suspended by muscles that change the shape of the lens to focus the eye. In a high-sugar environment, such as with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, the lens loses some of its ability to bend, he explains, and the muscles of the eye have to work harder to focus.

The good news: Caught early, diabetes-related vision changes can return to normal after about six week of healthy blood sugar levels, Turner says. Caught in time, vision may take about six weeks to return to normal.

If Your Urine Smells Like Ammonia

    You may be dehydrated.

Urine is mostly made up of water, with the addition of waste products like urea. If you have foul-smelling or pungent urine that has a strong ammonia scent, then it’s likely you’re dehydrated, leading to more concentrated urine.

Where doctors worry is when you have additional symptoms. For instance, an ammonia smell to your urine along with burning, pain with urination and fever may point to a urinary tract infection , Dr. Agarwal says.

Fix it: Drinking more water will dilute your urine, which will tame the smell. You’ll know you’re properly hydrated if your pee is somewhere between clear and a light yellow color, per the Cleveland Clinic.

If you have additional symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor.

Can High Levels And Dka Be Prevented

The solution is to keep your blood sugar levels as close to normal as possible, which means following your diabetes management plan. Checking your blood sugar levels several times a day will let you and your parents know when your blood sugar level is high. Then you can treat it and help prevent DKA from happening.

What else can you do? Wear a medical identification bracelet that says you have diabetes. Then, if you are not feeling well, whoever’s helping you even if the person doesn’t know you will know to call for medical help. And the doctors will be able to get you better more quickly if they know you have diabetes. These bracelets also can include your doctor’s phone number or a parent’s phone number. The quicker you get the help you need, the sooner you’ll be feeling better!

    What Is Diabetic Ketoacidosis

    Diabetes Symptoms In Urine

Someone who has high blood sugar can develop a serious problem with a serious-sounding name: diabetic ketoacidosis . This happens if the body gets desperate for a source of fuel. The body wants to use glucose . But without insulin, that glucose stays stuck in the blood and isn’t available to the cells so the body uses fat instead.

But that can sometimes cause problems. Why? Because when the body uses fat, chemicals called ketones are produced. These ketones get into a person’s blood and urine and they can make a person very sick. DKA is a very serious problem for people with diabetes, but the good news is that it can be prevented and treated.
